Abstract (EN)

In this study, the most appropriate treatment prosess for nutrient removal from domestic wastewater was investigated. For this purpose, a pilot scale novel five stage Bardenpho system was developed and run with a capacity of 10m3/day. The same pilot scale plant was also run with two stage Cascade system, which provide the comparison of Bardenpho and Cascade systems. The pilot scale facility was run in a grid, a primary settling tank, an anaerobic tank, 1.anoxic tank, 1.aerobic tank, 2.anoxic tank, 2.aerobic tank ve secondary settling tank. Both of two systems have 16h HRT, 15 day SRT, sludge recycle 80% and internal recycles 400% on avarege. COD, nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiencies was measured for this two systems. For novel developed modified five stage Bardenpho, removal efficiencies of SS, COD, NH4+-N, TKN, TN, PO4-P ve TP were found to be 94,0%; 88,0%; 99,2%; 91,6%; 88,0%;87,2% ve 87,6% on avarege, respectively. For Cascade system, removal efficiencies of SS, COD, NH4+-N, TKN, TN, PO4-P ve TP were found to be 89,1%; 91,0%; 96,8%; 92,8%; 88,9%; 95,4% and 93,4% on avarege, respectively. Both of two systems are successful for nutrient removal. This showed that as well as Cascade system, it can achieved good results with novel developed modified five stage Bardenpho for nutrient removal in domestic wastewater treatment.xvKey words: Bardenpho, Cascade, Nutrient removal, Domestic wastewater
