Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG YOUNG ADULTS' RESILIENCE, COGNITIVE FLEXIBILITY AND DIFFICULTIES IN EMOTION REGULATION The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship between young adults in Ankara and Istanbul who were 20 years of age or older and their psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility, and difficulties in emotion regulation. The study's model was a relational survey model because of this goal. Using criterion and convenience sample techniques, the research's study group was chosen. A total of 375 individuals took part in the research. There were 228 female participants (60.8%) and 146 male individuals (38.9%). The Connor-Davidson Psychological Resilience Scale Short Form, Personal Information Form, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, and Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form were all utilized throughout the course of the study. To ascertain the connection between psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility, and difficulties in emotion regulation, the study employed Pearson correlation analysis. The findings indicated a negative correlation between difficulties in emotion regulation and psychological resilience, but a strong positive correlation between psychological resilience and cognitive flexibility. Furthermore, there was a strong inverse correlation between cognitive flexibility and difficulties in emotion regulation. The study variables were also examined for differences by gender, age, and educational status using the independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that there were substantial gender differences in psychological resilience and difficulties in emotion regulation scores. Although the study only found a significant difference in emotion regulation difficulties scores based on educational attainment, it did find a significant difference in both emotion regulation difficulties and cognitive flexibility scores based on age category. The study's findings were examined within the context of existing literature. Key words: Psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility, difficulties in emotion regulation, young adults.
