Examining the relationship between employees' career satisfaction, self efficacy levels and career anchors
The main purpose of this study was to examine whether there is a significant relationship between career satisfaction, self-efficacy levels and career anchors of employees. Relational correlational survey method was used to examine the relationship between study variables and the relationship between each variable and demographic variables. The sample of the study consisted of 306 people working in an automotive company operating in Bursa. Personal Information Form, Career Satisfaction Scale, General Self-Efficacy Scale and Career Anchors Scale were applied to the participants. In order to answer the research questions; one-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test, Kruskal Wallis test,and Pearson Correlation analyzes were performed in SPSS 25.0 package program in data analysis. The results showed low positive and significant relationships between self-efficacy and career satisfaction, and between self-efficacy and career anchors. It was observed that the relationship between career satisfaction and career anchors was weakly positive, but not at a significant level. It was observed that the scores obtained from the career satisfaction, self-efficacy and career scales did not differ significantly according to gender and graduated field. Career satisfaction scores showed a significant difference according to age; however, self-efficacy and career anchor scores did not differ significantly according to age. Only career satisfaction scores differed significantly according to task focus. On the other hand, self-efficacy and career anchor scores did not differ significantly according to years of experience in the organization, but career satisfaction differed significantly according to years of experience in the organization. Moreover, it was observed that career satisfaction, self-efficacy and career anchor scores did not differ significantly according to monthly income. The findings and limitations of the study were discussed according to the relevant literature and suggestions for future studies were presented. The relationship between undergraduates' cognitive flexibility, emotional self-efficacy and interpersonal problem solving skills
This research was carried out to investigate the relationship between university students' cognitive flexibility, emotional self-efficacy and interpersonal problem-solving skills. The other aims of the study are to examine whether the cognitive flexibility, emotional self-efficacy and interpersonal problem-solving skills of university students show a significant difference according to gender, grade level, educational status of students' parents, program types and age. The universe of the research consists of university students studying at the undergraduate level in Istanbul in 2020-2021. The sample of the study was determined by convenient sampling and criterion sampling method and consists of university students (n=416) who continue their education at Yeditepe University in 2020-2021 who are studying in the faculties of Social Sciences, Science and Health Sciences. For the purposes of the research, Personal Information Form, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, Emotional Self-Efficacy Scale and Interpersonal Problem Solving Inventory were applied to the students. In the next step, Pearson Correlation Analysis was performed to understand the relationship between normally distributed data. After the correlational analysis, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used in terms of analysis of differences. The obtained information was analyzed with SPSS 25.0 package program. In the correlation analysis, a significant relationship was found between university students' cognitive flexibility, emotional self-efficacy and interpersonal problem solving skills. Significant relationships were found between university students' levels of emotional self-efficacy and constructive problem solving, insistent-persevering approach and approaching problems in a negative way. When the relationship between the cognitive flexibility variable and demographic variables was examined, no significant difference was found in the cognitive flexibility levels of university students according to their gender, grade level, education level of their parents, program types and ages. When it comes to the relationship between emotional self-efficacy and demographic variables, it was determined that university students' emotional self-efficacy levels changed according to their gender, grade level, program type and age. It has been revealed that women's emotional self-efficacy levels are higher than men's. It was found that the emotional self-efficacy levels of the third grade students were higher than the second grade students. Results also showed that the emotional self-efficacy levels of those who study in the field of Social Sciences are higher than those who study in Science. It has been revealed that the emotional self-efficacy levels of those aged 21-22 are higher than those aged 19-20. In the relationship between interpersonal problem solving skills and demographic variables, it was determined that university students' interpersonal problem solving skills changed according to their gender and age. It has been found that the constructive problem solving levels of women are higher than that of men, and the levels of lack of self-confidence and unwilling to take responsibility approach in men are higher than that of women. It has also been revealed that the level of approaching problems in a negative way of university students aged 23 and over is higher than those between the ages of 21-22.
Examining the relationship among intolerance toward uncertainty, mindfulness levels and coping with stress strategies of senior undergraduate students
This study was examined the relationship among intolerance toward uncertainty, mindfulness levels and coping with stress strategies of senior undergraduate students. In this research, convenient and criterion sampling method was utilized to determine the sample group consisting of senior undergraduate students (n=352) studying at Yeditepe University in the 2020-2021 academic year.Personal Information Form, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-Short Form, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale and Coping Styles Inventory were utilized to collect data from the sample group.The analysis of all the data in this research was obtained by using the Spss 25.0 program. In line with the analysis results, while ıt has been found out that there is a significant relationship between the intolerance toward uncertainty and the helpless approach sub-dimension, one of the coping with stress strategies.It was found between no significant relationship the levels of mindfulness and the helpless, the submissive, the optimistic and the to seeking social support approaches sub-dimension, one of the strategies of coping with stress. It was found out that there is a significant relationship between mindfulness levels and the self-confident approach sub-dimension, which is one of the coping with stress strategies. No significant relationship was found between the levels of mindfulness and intolerance toward uncertainty. There was no significant difference among intolerance toward uncertainty, mindfulness levels and coping with stress strategies, with respect to the age of the students, the program they studied, whether they did research on the fields they were educated or not, and their overall grade point averages. It was not observed significant difference between intolerance toward uncertainty, mindfulness levels, and self-confident, helpless, optimistic, and seeking social support approach sub-dimension, one of the coping with stress strategies with respect to gender. The submissive approach sub-dimension, one of the coping with stress strategies, demonstrated a significant difference with respect to gender, and it was found that the submissive approach levels of male participants were higher than female participants. The research findings and limitations discussed in the relevant literature are presented as suggestion for future researches. The relationship between attributional styles and psychological tendencies of university students in their close relationships
This research purposed to examine the relationship between attribution styles and psychological tendencies of university students in their close relationships. The other aims of the study are to examine whether there is a meaningful difference between the attribution styles and psychological tendencies of university students according to their gender, age and romantic relationship duration. The universe of the research is university students studying at Yeditepe University in the 2020-2021 academic year. Convenient sampling and criterion sampling methods were used to determine the sample of the study. The criteria used in the study group were that the participants were individuals in early adulthood (19-26 years old) and had at least one romantic relationship in their life. In this context, the study group of the research is the university students who continue their education at Yeditepe University in the 2020-2021 academic year, study in the fields of social and natural sciences, agree to participate in the research voluntarily, are in early adulthood (19-26 years old) and have had a romantic relationship at least once in their life. The study group consisted of 250 students in total, 76% of whom were female (n=190), and 24% were male (n=60). The Personal Information Form, The Relationship Attribution Measure (RAM) and the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire (MRQ) were used to obtain the research data. Demographic information form and scales were filled by the participants via Google Form on the internet. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical PackageforSocialSciences) for Windows 25.0 program. Descriptive statistical methods (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation) were used while evaluating the data. Pearson Correlational Analysis was performed to understand the relationship between normally distributed data. Independent sample t-test was used to compare two groups, one-way analysis of variance was used to compare more than two groups, and Bonferroni test was used to determine which group the difference originated from. The findings of the research are as follows: There was no statistically meaningful relationship between the total scores of the Relationship Attribution Measure and the total scores of the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire. A statistically negative and significant relationship was found between the total scores of the Relationship Attribution Measure and the Relational Satisfaction, Relational Esteem, and Relational Assertiveness sub-dimension scores of the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire. A statistically significant positive relatinship was found between the total scores of the Relationship Attribution Measure and the sub-dimensions of Fear of Relationship/Relational Anxiety, Relationship Monitoring and External Relational Control of the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire. There was no statistically significant relationship between the total scores of the Relationship Attribution Measure and the sub-dimension scores of the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire with Focus on Relationships Extremely and Internal Relational Control. The Relationship Attribution Measure total scores and sub-dimension scores did not show a statistically significant difference in terms of the gender and age of the participants. It was observed that there was a significant difference in terms of the duration of the romantic relationship. Among the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire sub-dimension scores, only focus on relationship extremely showed a significant difference according to the gender of the participants. According to the results of the analysis, it was seen that male participants' focus on relationship extremely sub-dimension scores were higher than female participants. The Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire total scores and sub-dimension scores did not show a statistically significant difference according to the age of the participants. It was observed that the total scores of the Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire differed significantly according to the duration of the romantic relationship. The relationship between young adults' subjective happiness in close relationship, beliefs about mate selection and emotional management skills
This research was carried out to examine the relationship between university students' subjective happiness in close relationships, their beliefs about mate selection, and their ability to manage emotions. The other aims of the study are to examine whether university students' subjective happiness in close relationships, beliefs about mate selection, and ability to manage emotions show a significant difference according to age, gender, relationship status and relationship duration. The universe of the research consists of students studying in Istanbul in 2020-2021. The sample of the study was determined by convenient sampling and criterion sampling method and consists of university students (n = 359), between the ages of 19-26, studying at the faculties of Social, Science and Health Sciences, continuing their education at Yeditepe University in 2020-2021. Personal Information Form, Subjective Happiness Scale, Romance and Mate Selection Attitude Scale and Emotion Management Skills Scale were applied to individuals in order to obtain data for the purposes of the research. Pearson Correlation Analysis was performed to examine the relationship between the normally distributed data during the analysis phase. After the correlational analysis, independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance were used to understand the analysis of differences. The obtained information was analyzed with SPSS .25.0 program. According to the findings obtained from the correlation analysis, there was no statistically significant relationship between the subjective happiness level of young adults in close relationships and their beliefs about mate selection. A positive and statistically significant relationship was found between subjective happiness levels and emotion management skills in close relationships during young adulthood. When the relationship between the subjective happiness variable and demographic variables was examined, subjective happiness levels in young adulthood did not differ significantly according to gender and relationship duration. When the subjective happiness scores were analyzed according to the age variable, a statistically significant difference was observed. Individuals aged 18-20 have higher subjective happiness scores than individuals aged 21-23. Subjective happiness scores of young adults aged 21-23 were found to be lower than those aged 24 and over. When a statistically significant difference in subjective happiness levels according to the relationship status of young adults is examined, the subjective happiness scores of individuals who are in a romantic relationship were found to be higher than those who do not have a romantic relationship. When the relationship between belief levels about mate selection and emotion management skills in young adulthood was examined, a negative and statistically significant relationship was observed. When the relationship between the beliefs about mate choice and demographic variables was examined, it was found that there was no significant difference according to age and relationship duration. The belief levels of young adult individuals about mate selection showed a statistically significant difference according to their gender. It was seen that male participants' belief scores about mate selection were higher than female participants' scores. When a statistically significant difference was examined in the beliefs of young adults about choosing a partner according to their relationship status, it was seen that the scores of young adults who were in a romantic relationship in their beliefs about the choice of a romantic relationship were higher than those who did not have a romantic relationship. When the variable of emotion management skills in young adulthood is examined according to gender, age, relationship status and relationship duration, it is seen that there is no significant difference.
Examining the relationships between attitudes towards gender roles, cognitive distortion and psychological well-being level of university students
This research is a correlational study based on the aim of examing the relationships between attitudes towards gender roles, cognitive distortions and psychological well-being levels of university students.When the related literature was examined, the studies on these three variables were not found. Examining the cognitive distortions and psychological well-being variables related to gender, relationships together reveals the importance of research. Within the demographic variables of the study (gender, age, type of department and class level they are attending, the existence, duration and status of romantic relations, and parental education status) examine the related variables. The sample of the research is composed of 172 students in Yeditepe University 2017-2018 academic year. The Gender Roles Attitude Scale, the Interpersonal Cognitive Distortions Scale and the Psychological Well-Being Scales and Demographic Information Form developed by the researcher were used. The analysis of the data was performed using the SPSS package program, Independent Sampling t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and Correlation Analyses. Based on the findings, it is revealed that students' attitudes towards gender roles indicated significant difference in the subscales of classroom and romantic relationships, and cognitive distortions do not make a significant difference in grade, presence of romantic relationship and duration of the relationship, and parental education level. The scores of the university students' gender role attitude subscales and the interpersonal cognitive distortions subscales were found as significantly correlated with psychological well-being. The gender role attitudes of the students and the interpersonal cognitive distortions significantly predict psychological well-being of the students. Findings obtained from the research were discussed and interpreted, and various suggestions were presented for further studies.
Examining the relationships among young adults' resilience, cognitive flexibility and emotion regulation difficulties
ABSTRACT EXAMINING THE RELATIONSHIP AMONG YOUNG ADULTS' RESILIENCE, COGNITIVE FLEXIBILITY AND DIFFICULTIES IN EMOTION REGULATION The purpose of this study was to look at the relationship between young adults in Ankara and Istanbul who were 20 years of age or older and their psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility, and difficulties in emotion regulation. The study's model was a relational survey model because of this goal. Using criterion and convenience sample techniques, the research's study group was chosen. A total of 375 individuals took part in the research. There were 228 female participants (60.8%) and 146 male individuals (38.9%). The Connor-Davidson Psychological Resilience Scale Short Form, Personal Information Form, Cognitive Flexibility Inventory, and Difficulty in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form were all utilized throughout the course of the study. To ascertain the connection between psychological resilience, cognitive flexibility, and difficulties in emotion regulation, the study employed Pearson correlation analysis. The findings indicated a negative correlation between difficulties in emotion regulation and psychological resilience, but a strong positive correlation between psychological resilience and cognitive flexibility. Furthermore, there was a strong inverse correlation between cognitive flexibility and difficulties in emotion regulation. The study variables were also examined for differences by gender, age, and educational status using the independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA. The results showed that there were substantial gender differences in psychological resilience and difficulties in emotion regulation scores. Although the study only found a significant difference in emotion regulation difficulties scores based on educational attainment, it did find a significant difference in both emotion regulation difficulties and cognitive flexibility scores based on age category. The impact of group counseling program for secondary school students academically at risk on their academic motivation levels
This research was carried to investigate the impact of Solution Focused Brief Therapy Based Group Counseling Program on academic motivation levels of secondary school students who were academically at-risk. The research was conducted in a private boarding middle school in the 2nd-semester of 2018 -2019 educational year. Eigtheen sixth gade students, nine in the experimental group with five boys and four girls and nine in the control group with the same gender distribution participated in the study. Academic Motivation Scale developed by Vallerand and colleques (1989) and adapted by Yurt and Bozer (2015) was used to measure the motivation levels of the students academically at-risk. Academically at-risk students were nominated according to the grade passing regulations of the school. Solution Focused Brief Therapy Based Group Counseling Program designed by the researcher was conducted in six weekly sessions which were lasting for 55 minutes to the experimental group. No program was conducted for the control groups. The research design was quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest and control group. Mann-Whitney U tests and Wilcoxon Signed Rank tests were utilized for analysis of the data. According to the findings of the data analyzed, no significant change was recorded after execution of the Solution Focused Brief Therapy Based Group Counseling Program on academic motivation levels of the students academically at-risk. Increase in academic achievement of the students was recorded. The findings were evaluated according to the current studies and existing literature. Examining the effect of a group guidance program on the 7th grade students' interpersonal problem solving skills
The aim of this study is to examine whether the group guidance program on the basis of Rational Emotional Education has an impact on the interpersonal problem solving skills of the students attending the seventh grade or not. For this purpose, the study was formed in the quasi-experimental model and the study group was designed by the appropriate and criterion sampling method. In selecting the students who made up the research group, the volunteers and the evaluation made through "Problem Solving Inventory" which was developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982), and adapted to Turkish by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993) were taken into consideration. The study was conducted between the experimental group consisting of 12 students in 3 groups and the control group consisting of 36 people. Rational Emotional Education program was applied to the experimental group. No program was applied to the control group. In the analysis of the data, Paired Sample t Test and Independent Sample t Test were used. As a result of the study, it was observed that the group guidance program on the basis of Rational Emotional Education was an effective method to increase interpersonal problem solving skills of secondary school students. Examining the effects of basic psychological needs and life satisfaction levels on tendencies to violence of 10-14 aged middle school students
This research is a predictive correlational study that aims to examine the effects of 10-14-year-old middle school students' basic psychological needs, and life satisfaction levels on their tendencies to violence. In the study, it was aimed to acknowledge and evaluate middle school students better by associating demographic variables (school type, sex, age, grade level, parents' education levels) with violence tendency, basic psychological needs, and life satisfaction. The population of the research consists of middle school students who are studying at private and public schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education located in the province of Çekmeköy in Istanbul in 2016-2017 academic year; while the sample consists of a total of 470 students that study at Private European Middle School and Nükte Sözen Middle School. "Basic Psychological Needs Scale", "Multidimensional Students' Life Satisfaction Scale", "Violence Tendency Scale" and "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. Independent Samples t-test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Regression and Correlation analyzes of the data were performed using the SPSS package program. When the scores were examined as a result of the research, it was found that the Competence Need subdimension of Basic Psychological Needs, School, Living Environment, and Self subdimensions of Life Satisfaction significantly predict Violence Tendency, and that the participants who received high scores from family life satisfaction received low scores from violence tendency. In addition, participants with high Violence Tendency scores had lower scores from autonomy, competence, and relatedness need subscales of basic psychological needs. The impacts of irrational beliefs and perceived parenting attitudes on the test anxiety levels of high school students
The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive role of irrational beliefs and perceived parental attitudes of high school students on test anxiety levels. In line with this objective, the related study was formed as a predictive correlational research model. Demographic Information Form, Child Rearing Attitudes Scale and Irrational Beliefs Scale were applied to 341 high school students studying in Suleyman Demirel Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Tugrul Bey Anatolian High School and Piri Reis Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. According to the corelation findings, the perceived parental attitudes and the anxiety of the exam were significantly correlated with the negative of the sub-dimensions of acceptance / involvement; The strict control / supervision control sub-dimensions were determined to be positively correlated. In addition, irrational beliefs and test anxiety sub-dimensions and total scores were positively and significantly related. According to the regression findings, the test anxiety covert sub-dimension and total scores were negative by the mother's acceptance / involvement sub-dimension; it is predicted positively and significantly by irrational beliefs. When the findings related to demographic variables are examined, the difference of test anxiety sub-dimensions and total scores according to gender is significant. It was observed that the test scores of the male students were higher than the female students. The difference of test anxiety anxiety subscale scores according to high school type is statistically significant. It was seen that the mean score of the anxiety anxiety of the vocational high school students was higher. In addition, the difference between the points of acceptance/ involvement affection attitude by the mother according to the class and age variable is statistically significant. High school first grade and 15 year old students were found to have higher acceptance / involvement perceived by the mother sub-dimension scores. In addition, the concern of test anxiety in high school freshman students is higher than the scores in the sub-dimensions and total test anxiety scores. The difference of test anxiety sub-dimensions and total scores according to mother education level was found as statistically significant. It was found that the test anxiety sub-dimensions and test anxiety total scores of the students whose mothers were university graduates were higher. It was found that the scores of the Strict Control and Supervision sub-dimension perceived by the father were higher in the mothers of secondary school graduates. The findings of the study show that the perceived parental attitudes and irrational beliefs of the students are the factors that explain the test anxiety levels. In constructing preventive or protective interventions related to test anxiety, it is considered that these factors should be evaluated and supported by further studies.
Examining the relationship between parenting stress and marriage burnout of parents having children diagnosed with cerebral palsy
This research that is an exploratory correlational study aims to investigate the relationship between parenting stress and marriage burn-out of the parents having children diagnosed with cerebral palsy(CP). In the study, the other goal is to acknowledge and evaluate parents having children diagnosed with CP better by examining their parenting stress and marriage burn-out levels with regard to the demographic variables (parents' age, the age of children with cerebral palsy, education level, socio-economic status, marriage duration, number of children and the Gross Motor Function Classification System-GMFCS levels of children with CP). The population of the research consists of parents having children diagnosed with CP, which are supported by the Private Metin Sabancı and the Private Hıfzı Özcan Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers in Istanbul / Ataşehir; when the research sample consists of a total of 97 parents that selected from related special education and rehabilitations by convenient and criterion sampling methods. "Questionnaire on Resource and Stress-F (QRS-F)", "Parents Burnout Scale", and "Personal Information Form" were used as tools to collect the data. Pearson Correlational Analysis, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Independent Sample T-Test, Kruskal-Wallis H and Mann-Whitney U Test were conducted with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). When the scores obtained from related tools were analyzed, it was concluded that there was a significant positive correlation between marriage burn-out and parenting stress levels. In other words, as parenting stress levels increased, their marriage burn-out levels increased. In addition, as a result of the analyses, there were no significant differences among parenting stress and marriage burn-out levels with regard to the demographic variables like parents' age, the age of the children with CP, parents' education level, socio-economic status and marriage duration. While there were no significant differences among parenting stress levels, there was a statistically difference among their marriage burn-out levels according to number of children. Parents with one child had higher levels of marriage burn-out than parents with 2 or more children. Also, results have revealed that parenting stress and marriage burn-out levels did not have difference significantly according to GMFCS levels of children with CP. The findings were assessed related to the present studies and literature.
The effect of group counseling program for siblings of atypical children on their anxiety levels
The aim of this research was examining the impact of group counseling program ob siblings of atypical children's anxiety level. This research was conducted in Metin Sabanci Special Education and Rehabilitation Center between 2018 and 2020. Twenty siblings of atypical children in different dissability groups were participated in this study. Five boy and five girl were included experimental group and the same was done for the control group. The age range of participants were determined from 8 to 11. The group counseling program that was developed by research longed six-week and each sessions were one hour length. This group counseling program were applied to the participants in experimental group while there is no application for participants in control group. The design of this research was quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test and control group. Spence Children Anxiety Scale that was developed by Spence in 1988 and adapted by Direktör and Serin in 2017 was used to measure participants' anxiety score before and after the group process. To analyze the collected data, Wilcoxon Signed Rank and Mann-Whitney U tests were used by researcher. At the end of the analyzing process, it was found that the six-week group counseling program was developed by researcher was effective on siblings of atypical children's anxiety level. Reduction was observed in participants' anxiety score at the end of this process. The findings obtained in this study were evaluated according to the current researches and extant literature.
