Exploring the relationship between UTAUT constructs and educator's behavioral intention to adopt gamified web tools as a teaching tool in education: A quantitative non-experimental correlation study

This study aims to explore the relationship between Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) constructs and educator's behavioral intention to adopt gamification as a teaching tool in education, using a quantitative non-experimental correlation design. In order to assess the acceptance and use of gamification in the context of education, the study utilized behavioral intention and user behavior as indicators. The UTUAT constructs, including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions, were used as independent variables. The dependent variables, adoption and usage of gamified web tools, were measured through behavioral intention and user behavior.144 teachers participated to the study and questionnaire were delivered through Google Forms. The collected data analyzed with a structural equation model (SEM). The findings suggest that there is a negative relationship between performance expectancy and teachers' behavioral intention to adopt and accept gamification as a teaching tool in education. However, there is a positive relationship between effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, and teacher's behavioral intention to adopt and accept gamified web tools as a teaching tool in education. Moreover, the results indicate that the organization variable has a significant relationship with teacher's behavioral intention to adopt and accept gamification.
