Abstract (EN)

In this study; Carp (Cyprinus carpio) were exposed to 500 ve 1000 µg/L arsenic concentrations during 30 days. Bioaccumulation rates, antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) enzyme activities and a lipid peroxidation product malondialdehyde (MDA) levels were examined in various fish tissues. Arsenic bioaccumulation analyzes were carried out with Atomic Absorbtion Spectroscopy (AAS). CAT and SOD enzyme activity analyzes and MDA levelswere performed with spectrophotometer. Results showed that arsenic was accumulated in liver, kidney, muscle, skin and intestinal tissues. As the final product of lipid peroxidation, MDA levels were determined to have increased in all tissues with the exception of muscle. On the other hand, CAT and SOD enzyme activities in the fish tissues were decreased as compared to the control group. In the muscle tissues, differences were observed in the enzyme activities depending on arsenic concentration. Considering the increases in enzyme inhibition and MDA levels, it can be said liver was the main tissue affected in response to the arsenic toxicity. Keywords: Arsenic, Bioaccumulation, Cyprinus carpio, CAT, MDA, SOD.
