Abstract (EN)

This study examined the impact of foliar application of animal- and plant-derived biostimulants and nitrogen fertilizer forms on sugar beet's morphological and physiological characteristics in both laboratory and field experiments. In the experiments conducted in Eskişehir in 2022, three biostimulants (Aminolom Enzimatico®, Inori®, and Isabion®), two nitrogen forms (urea and calcium ammonium nitrate, CAN), and sugar beet variety Mohican were used. The results of the laboratory trial demonstrated that nitrogen fertilization had a positive effect on the number of leaves, plant weight, leaf area, chlorophyll content, electrolyte leakage, and relative water content. Biostimulant applications resulted in a higher plant weight, leaf weight, leaf area, and chlorophyll content. The highest leaf weight, plant weight, and chlorophyll content were obtained from the plants fertilized with CAN sprayed with Inori®. In addition, the effects of the biostimulants had significantly different, and the plant-derived biostimulants Aminolom Enzimatico® and Inori® showed superior performance in sugar beet growth. A field trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of biostimulants on root diameter, root weight, root yield, and sugar ratio of sugar beet plants, which had been supplied with 16 kg/da of nitrogen composed of CAN and urea. The results showed that nitrogen forms and biostimulant applications had no significant effect on root diameter, root yield, and sugar ratio. Although the beneficial effects of biostimulants on sugar beet plant growth were observed under laboratory conditions, this benefit was not evident in root yield under field conditions. Accordingly, it should be suggested that while positive effects ofbiostimulants on sugar beet seedling growth were observed plant-based biostimulants is more suitable.
