Abstract (EN)
This thesis investigates the impact of varying carbon dioxide (CO₂) concentrations on the developmental and reproductive parameters of Halyomorpha halys (Stål, 1855), an invasive pest posing a significant threat to agricultural production. In the context of global climate change, the increasing atmospheric CO₂ levels can influence the physiological processes and behavioral traits of biotic organisms. Within this scope, the study evaluated the effects of three distinct CO₂ levels (control: 450 ppm, moderate: 600 ppm, and high: 670 ppm) on the pest's life cycle. Experiments were conducted under controlled laboratory conditions (30 ± 1 °C, 65 ± 10% relative humidity, 16:8 light:dark photoperiod), and parameters such as oviposition behavior, nymphal stage duration, longevity, and egg hatching rates were monitored throughout the developmental stages of the individuals. Soybean (Glycine max), carrot (Daucus carota), and apricot (Prunus armeniaca) were utilized as food sources in the study. Analysis of the results indicates that the 600 ppm CO₂ application provided a more stabilizing environment for the pest's developmental periods and was more favorable for egg productivity. Conversely, the high CO₂ application at 670 ppm shortened the egg hatching period while simultaneously reducing individual longevity and increasing mortality rates. Statistical analyses revealed that both CO₂ levels and food sources had significant effects on the biological development of the pest (p < 0.05). In conclusion, this study provides crucial findings regarding how the biology of H. halys may change under climate change conditions, also establishing a scientific basis for planning future potential spread of the pest and developing effective control strategies.
