Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, the world is facing drinking water crisis due to rapid contamination of drinking water. With the fast development of various industries, a huge quantity of wastewater has been produced from industrial processes and was discharged into water systems. Boron is found with widespread amound on above ground, especially in soil, rocks and water. Chemical products which are used in agricultural and industrial wastewater which is composed from prosessing activities in factories are especially rich in borat. At the present days, borate compounds are widely used in industry with developing technology. Main using areas of boron compounds are glass and ceramic industry, cleaning and whitening industry, farming, metallurgy, textile, nuclear, fireproof materials and paper industry, adhesive and drug production. World Health Organization limited the boron concentration as 0.3 mg/L in drinking water and 0.5 mg/L in irrigation water. Boron is an important nutritianal element for plants but higher concentrations of boron has toxic effects. Furthermore, boron removal from wastewater is extremely important when we consider its effects on human and environment. There are a lot of tecniques reported for removal of boron from wastewater. Adsorption, electrodialysis, coagulation, chemical precipitation, reverse osmosis and nanofiltration, extraction with organic solvents and thermal methods are some of the experiments which are used for removal of boron from waste water. In this study, evaluation of boron adsorption potential of boron selective resins, the influence of process parameters, isotherm, kinetic and column modelling in batch and continuos system and regeneration of resins was examined. Keywords: Boron, adsorption, ion exchange, polymeric adsorbent, isotherm, kinetic
