Comparison of mechanical properties and color stability of different temporary restoration materials

Abstract (EN)
Temporary restorations should have mechanical strength to resist chewing forces, protect the pulp and periodontium, stabilize the tooth and should not change color. In this study, the fracture strength, surface hardness and color stability of the samples produced from 4 different materials with different production techniques were investigated. In the study, Tempo CAD subtractive manufacturing, Curo Temp additive manufacturing techniques, autopolymerizing Dentalon Plus and Prevision Temp materials used with direct method were examined. Crown specimens (n=10) were produced for the fracture strength test and 10 mm x 2 mm disc specimens (n=10) were produced for the surface hardness and color stability tests. Force was applied to the crown specimens until they broke using a universal testing machine. From the disk samples, the first color measurements were made after the surface hardness measurements (L1, a1, b1). All disc samples were subjected to 1000 cycles of coffee thermal cycles (holding time 30 seconds, transfer time 5 seconds). After the coffee thermal cycle, again after the surface hardness measurements were made, the color measurements (L2, a2, b2) of the samples were made and the values were recorded. Calculations were made using the color difference formulas ΔE00 and ΔEab. Distribution of variables One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey, Kruskal-wallis, Mann-Whitney U tests were used in the analysis of quantitative independent data with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. Paired sample t-test was used in the analysis of dependent quantitative data. Analyzes were made using the SPSS 27.0 program and p <.05 was taken. The fracture strength results were found to be between 312.6 N and 936.8 N on average. The most durable materials were found to be Tempo CAD and Curo Temp materials. In the surface hardness results before and after the thermal cycle, Tempo CAD material was found to be the most stable material. While the color stability of Dentalon Plus and Tempo CAD materials were found to be high, the color stability of Curo Temp and Prevision Temp materials were found to be low.
