Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out in Bursa Uludag University Faculty of Agriculture Agricultural Application and Research Center trial fields in 2017-2018 vegetation period. The aim of this study was to determine yield and quality characteristics of different Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.) genotypes and their compatibility with biodiesel. A total of 72 Indian mustard genotypes, 68 lines and 4 witness cultivars, were used in the study. Field trials were carried out in 8 rows with 17,5 cm between the rows and 5 m plot length and 8 x 9 rectangular lattice trial pattern with 3 replications. As a result of the research, CR2658 (419,1 kg/da) and CR2619 (416,9 kg/da) lines have the highest seed yield, while Burgonde cultivar has the highest seed yield with 287,3 kg/da among the witness cultivars. The highest crude oil content (51,6 %) was obtained from CR2458 line and the highest crude oil yield (210,0 kg/da) was given by CR2619 line. In terms of fatty acid composition, the average palmitic, stearic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic and erucic acid ratios of Indian mustard genotypes were 3,5%, 1,5%, 14,4%, 22,8% and 36,6%, respectively. When the biodiesel fuel properties of Indian mustard genotypes discussed in the study are examined, it is seen that all fuel properties except kinematic viscosity are within the limit values of TS 14214 biodiesel standard. However, when all biodiesel fuel properties are evaluated together, it can be said that all of the Indian mustard genotypes discussed in the research can be used in biodiesel production.
