Abstract (EN)

The art of illustration is a branch of graphic design that has been instrumental in reflecting various emotions, thoughts and facts that form the foundation of communication from prehistoric times to the present, and has been used to serve areas that can create significant interaction. It is possible to come across the first examples of the illustration which is a French origin Word in literature, besides being able to enlighten the past with value judgments it also aims to shed light on the future in an intercultural context. Continuing it's development from prehistoric times to the present by cınveying a message through visual imaginary lines, illustration plays a major role in presenting the idea with aesthetic concern to the communities we call the target group in the fields of graphic design and advertising. In this thesis, in which I examine the analysis of illustration styles in different cultures, I aimed to reveal to what extent art of illustration effects which areas of life and societies, and the changes and developments it went through in its journey between cultures and history. I examined the reasons why it is frequently preferred as an effective solution in reinforcing and conveying the narrative in various subjects by analyzing the styles of communities and individuals while they adopted reflecting their changes and development in the socio-cultural area. Illustration, which is a comprehensive art branch that progresses depending on the artist and her world and leaves the message to the view, experience, and knowledge, is a powerful expression tool. It enables the message to be conveyed through creative and individual ways for actions such as problem- solving, ornamentation, information, stimulation, education, and telling a story. With this aspect, it is in constant interaction with graphic design.
