Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, machinability of ductile graphite cast irons with different mechanical properties were compared. It is aimed to compare the machinability of solid solution reinforced ferritic spheroidal cast irons (SSF) with respect to ductile cast irons, as it is a new material. The effects of cutting parameters on surface roughness and tool wear in both materials were investigated. By determining the optimum cutting conditions, it is aimed to reach a longer tool life and a better surface quality. The advantages and disadvantages of the SSF material, which shows a full ferritic structure due to the high silicon in its structure and has a homogeneous and narrow range of mechanical properties throughout the part, in terms of machining compared to spheroidal graphite cast irons with ferlitic / perlitic structure and a wider range of mechanical properties have been investigated.
