Yield and quality characteristics of different mini size watermelon varieties in Adana ecological conditions

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the productivity and fruit quality of mini-watermelon types under our regional ecological conditions with an aim to promote a different product group in our country and region in the field of watermelon, which is one of the most significant agricultural products of our country.In the study 18 mini watermelon varieties are used. Crimson Tide and Crisby F1 varities, grown widely in our area and country, are used as control varieties.First and 50% flowering period, main shooting lenght, main stem diameter, number of nods in main stem, ovary diameter and lenght, total yield, average fruit weight, average fruit height, average fruit diameter, fruit rind thickness, color readings, TSS analysis, number of seeds and weight of 1000 seeds are measured.According to the results of the research, WDL 7078 F1, WDL 8051 F1 and Bonanza F1 varieties that took place in trial come into prominence from the yield point of view. WDL 8051 F1 is the variety that has the darkest red flesh color. When TSS values are compared, Petite Perfection F1 is the variety that has the highest TSS content.
