Abstract (EN)
This study determined the spermatozoa characteristics of Saanen bucks by using three different diluents. The experimental material of the study consisted of six one-year-old Saanen bucks. Ejaculates were collected from the bucks twice a week between July and December 2017. The total motility rates that were obtained for the sperms that were frozen with commercial diluents of Andromed®, Bioxcell® and Ovixcell® were respectively 57.68%, 55.35% and 53.54%; the progresive motility rates were respectively 44.75%, 43.90% and 42.60%, and the anormal spermatozoa rates were respectively 12.92%, 11.40% and 12.12%. The effect of the type of diluent on the characteristics that were investigated in the study was not found to be significant. The effects of time for months were statistically significant on live weights, body and testicle sizes and hormone levels (FSH, LH, Testo-T, Testo-S) (P<0.05). While the difference among the diluents that were used in this study was not significant, it will be useful to use higher numbers of bucks, dilute sperms individually without mixing and test these with different sperm concentrations.
