Abstract (EN)
Aerodynamic forces, significantly affect a vehicle's fuel consumption. Drag force is the aerodynamic force that creates the most resistance on the vehicle. Therefore, reducing drag force is an important parameter in vehicle design. The aim of this study is to investigate the flow movements on a vehicle numerically and to determine the drag coefficients. In this study, a simple vehicle was modeled on CFD program and the drag coefficient value of the vehicle was determined. According to the analysis results were made improvements on the model and the new model was analyzed numerically again. This process was repeated four times and five different vehicle models were analyzed in two dimensions and the results were compared with each other. As a result, it was determined that avoiding sharp corners in vehicle design and designing the vehicle form to be similar to drop form greatly reduces drag force on vehicles.
