Abstract (EN)

EVALUATİON OF THE EFFECT OF DİFFERENT RETAİNER SYSTEMS ON THE CLINICAL SUCCESS AND PATIENT SATISFACTION OF IMPLANT SUPPORTED OVERDENTURE PROSTHESES : RETROSPECTIVE STUDY Aim :The purpose of this thesis is to compare the clinical success of splinted bar and splintless system knob and locator retained overdenture prostheses, to determine chewing satisfaction in patients using implant-supported overdentures with various methods, and thus to minimize possible complications. Materials and Methods: The implant-supported removable prostheses evaluated in our study were divided into 3 groups. All patient groups were recorded with a complication questionnaire form and clinical examination, during which they experienced problems originating from the prosthesis, implant and retention systems during the use of implant-supported removable prostheses. The FAS (Food Acceptance Score) questions to be applied to the patients were used to determine the level at which the patients could eat certain foods with their existing prostheses. Similarly, the degree to which the patients were satisfied with their overdenture prostheses was evaluated using the OHIP-14 (Oral Health Impact Profile) scale. Descriptive statistical methods (Frequency, Ratio) were used for the analysis of the data in the study. Pearson Chi-Square test and One-Way Anova test were used for question comparisons. Results: According to the data obtained as a result of statistical analysis, there was no significant difference in the complications experienced due to prosthesis, implant and retention systems during the usage period of splinted bar and splintless knob and locator retained overdenture prostheses. (p>0.05). FAS scores did not show any statistically significant difference according to retention types (p>0.05). Numerically, xsplinted bar retained overdenture prostheses also had higher FAS scores than other non-splinted retainers. OHIP-14 scale did not create any statistically significant difference according to retention types. (p>0.05) Conclusion: This study evaluated the effects of different retention systems of implant-supported overdenture prostheses on clinical success and patient satisfaction. It was observed that the bar retention system gave better results than other systems. However, it is important to determine the best treatment options according to patient needs, considering the advantages and disadvantages of each system. Such studies will contribute to the development of more effective and patient-centered approaches in dentistry. Keywords: Overdenture, Patient Satisfaction, Complication, Different Retainers
