The investigation continuity of elite wrestlers in different countries in sportive success

Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the continuity of elite wrestlers in sport performance in different countries. In this research, six countries; Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, USA and Iran between 2000 and 2017, the success achieved in FS – GR styles (continental Europe, Asia, Pan America), World and Olympic Championships and their continuity in the categories of cadet, junior and senior were examined. A total of 364 championships, 11456 medals and 2173 wrestlers have been the subject of our research. The sample of the study is Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, USA and Iran, which are among the member countries of UWW. The data is analyzed by withdrawing data from UW database and by giving frequency and percentage values. According to the results of the research, a total of %100 (f=2173) athletes of six countries during this time, %73,2 (f=1591) could not provide continuity, %26,8 (f=582) were able to provide continuity in wrestling. Looking at the continuity of athletes in countries; Iran has total %100 (f=510) athletes %26,7 (f=136) continuous, 73,3 (f=374) discontinuous, Russia has total %100 (f=556) athletes %24,1 (f=134) continuous, %75,9 (f=422) discontinuous, USA has total %100 (f=346) athletes %26,9 (f=93) continuous, %73,1 (f=253) discontinuous, Turkey has total %100 (f=291) athletes %27,1 (f=79) continuous, %72,9 (f=212) discontinuous, Georgia has total %100 (f=233) athletes %32,6 (f=76) continuous, %67,4 (f=157) discontinuous, Azerbaijan has total %100 (f=237) athletes %27 (f=64) continuous, %73 (f=173) discontinuous. It was observed that a continuing wrestler had a positive impact on the success of gaining between +5 and +15 kilograms during his wrestling career. In the world and Olympic championships, a total of %100 (f=2514) medals were distributed, six countries received %55,8 (f=1403), while the other countries received %44,2 (f=1111). In the study, it was found that the number of men and the total number of medals per medal was compared to the number of persons per medal in the countries studied, Georgia 3 520, Azerbaijan 8 938, Iran 41 563, Russia 62 968, Turkey 66 407 and America 256 526. In the 18-year period of the continent, the world and the Olympic championships, the entire championship, including the category and styles. 1stRussia 1058 Medal, 2ndIran 980 medals, 3rdAmerica 631 medal, 4thTurkey 603 medals, 5thAzerbaijan 559 medals and 6thGeorgia received 539 medals. Looking at Styles; Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, USA and Iran are more successful in the free-style (FS) than the greco-romen style (GR), while Turkey is more successful in the greco-romen style (GR). When we look at the championships, it is seen that Russia is the most successful country in the continental championships, Iran is the most successful country in the world and Olympics. When we look at the categories, it was found that Russia was the most successful country in the categories of cadet, junior and senior.
