Growth and development performance in awassi and Çukurova meat breed lamb born from different ages ewes

This study was carried out to investigate the growth and development performances of Awassi and Cukurova Meat breed sheep reared in Cukurova University, Faculty of Agriculture, Research and Application Farm Sheep Unit, according to the maternal age (young and adult) lambs. The animal material of the research was Awassi (n=26), Çukurova Et (n=28); Awassi (n=17) and Cukurova Et (n=12) of the adult mothers produced a total of 83 lambs. Birth and weaning weights of lambs from young ewes were 4.13 kg and 22.39 kg; Birth and weaning weights of the lambs from mature ewes were found to be 4.09 kg and 19.18 kg. As a result of the research, birth type was significant (p<0.05), maternal age, breed and gender were unimportant (p>0.05) on birth weight in lambs; It was determined that maternal age, breed were important (p>0.05), birth type and gender were unimportant (p>0.05) on weaning weight. Cukurova Meat lambs were more important than Awassi lambs in terms of live weight at 30th and 75th days (p<0.05). ) and showed a higher performance. The effect of gender on live weight values at birth and different periods was found to be insignificant (p>0.05), the effect of birth type on live weight at birth 15,45 and 60th days was determined as significant (p<0.05).
