Abstract (EN)
Mechanical wear and corrosion cause a size difference in the mold parts used, which are generally not required to change in size. Abrasion causes the material to break and deform. Damage to machine parts due to wear and corrosion causes economic damage. Material selection alone is never an adequate solution to prevent wear and corrosion. The solution is improved by using modern surface treatment methods used today. In this study, two main topics are focused on in order to examine and compare the life of DIN 1.2344 hot work tool steel, which is generally used from hot forging dies: (i) examination of microstructure, hardness and wear of DIN 1.2344 steel by gas and ion nitration treatment and (ii) hot work by electroless nickel-boron plating. Investigation of the effect of tool steel on the microstructure, hardness and wear resistance of the tool steel, and the study was carried out to increase the life of these two processes in forging dies.
