Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the compostability of water based paint sludges by using different types of bulking agent to reduce the volume and to determine the effect of these bulking agents on the composting process. In the automotive industry, the compostability and the physical and chemical changes of the paint sludge produced by using different bulking agent were investigated. The compostability of the paint sludge produced in the automotive industry using different bulking agent and the physical and chemical change of the compost were investigated. The paint sludge was composted in 14 different reactors. Sunflower stalk, peanut shell and corn cob were used as bulking agent for the composting of paint sludge. Food industry treatment sludge and industrial treatment sludge were added as a vaccine to supply the microorganism requirement of the compost mixture. Composting process was carried out out in 30 L reactors for twenty-eight days which is prepared in fourteen reactors with different recipes. Composting was carried out in 14 different reactors with different mixing ratios. Dry matter, moisture, organic matter, temperature, TKN, pH, EC and C / N parameters were monitored on samples taken on days 0., 2., 7., 14., 21 and 28 throughout the process. Twelve of the fourteen reactors, which were regularly monitored and analyzed for 28 days, passed the thermophilic phase exceeding 40 ° C and three reactors went above 55 ° C. Reactor with the longest residual temperature above 55 ° C was the B14 reactor which is prepared with 70% paint sludge and 30% corn cob. When the moisture content is examined, the required moisture content (40-60%) is provided for compost during 28 days of active composting period. When organic matter losses of the mixtures in the reactors were calculated, it was observed that the B1, B9 and B12 reactors lost more than the other reactors. In the reactors other than B2 and B5, the C/N ratio decreased in the literatüre. As a result of the studies, it has been determined that the composting process can be used in the management of paint sludges, the amount of paint sludge can be reduced and converted to less harmful forms.
