Abstract (EN)

Thermal energy storage (TES) provides alternative solutions to the energy problem. In this study, using nano materials with the purpose of enhancing thermal properties of phase change materials (PCM) used for TES has been investigated. Nano composites of parafins, which are the mostly preferred PCMs in TES systems, are prepared, characterized and thermal properties has been determined. For preparing nano composites nano magnetit (Fe3O4) prepared with sol-gel method and carbon nano tubes has been used. Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) analysis has revealed that size of nano magnetit particules that has been in the range of 25-650 nm was increased to 4-9 µm after stabilization with oleic acid. According to Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) results, latent heat storage capacity of paraffin has been increased by 11,5 ? 23 % for PCM-carbon nanotube composites and by 1,7% for PCM-nano magnetit composite. No significant changein the phase intervals were observed. Heating and cooling curves showed that thermal conductivity of PCMs can be increased by using nano particles.
