Examination of the levels of ethical status of philosophy group teachers and their perception of metaphors related to the concept of ethics

The individual's perceptual situation and personal ethical attitude to the concept of ethics play an important role in the decision-making process in cases where individuals experience ethical dilemmas. In other words, the ethical perception and ethical attitude that an individual forms in his mind affects how he makes decisions. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the ethical evaluation structure formed by individuals in their minds. In order to determine this structure, it is necessary to Decipher the relationship between the metaphors created by individuals for the concept of ethics and their personal ethical ideology. Especially trained towards the concept of ethics, moral development and ethical philosophy about various basic approaches metaphors for the concept of a teacher with an academic background personal ethical ideologies and ethical importance. The purpose of this research, which was prepared based on the reasons mentioned above, was determined to examine the ethical status levels of philosophy group teachers and their perceptions of metaphors towards the concept of ethics. This research was conducted using the convergent parallel mixed method design. The research was conducted with a total of 107 participants, 49 of whom are men and 58 of whom are women, working in Çukurova, Sarıçam, Seyhan and Yüreğir, which are the central districts of Adana, in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. A sample selection based on maximum diversity was made to determine the participants. During the research process personal information form, Forsyth (1980), developed by the Turkish validity and reliability study in 2010 by the printer the printer with a twist for the ethical status scale developed by the researcher was used in the form of structured ethical towards the concept of metaphor. Statistical Package For The Social Sciences 22 (SPPS 22) program was used during the analysis of quantitative data. Qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis method by considering metaphors and analogy reasons together. The evaluation of the data analyses was completed in three stages. In the first stage, personal information (gender, graduated department, district, education status, age, professional experience period) and the data obtained as a result of the application of the ethical status scale were evaluated. In the second stage, metaphors and the reasons for the creation of metaphors were evaluated together. A total of 68 different metaphors were obtained from the participants and these metaphors were examined in six main categories. In the third stage, the results obtained from the first stage and the second stage of the data were evaluated together. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was found that the demographic structure had no effect on the ethical status levels and the ethical status level of the participants was at a high level compared to the idealism sub-dimension and the relativism sub-dimension. Participants produced a total of 68 different metaphors. It has been determined that the most commonly used metaphor element by philosophy group teachers is the concept of "human". In addition, it is observed that they evaluate the concept of ethics as the most guiding and vital October element. When the ethical status levels and metaphors were examined together, it was found that situationist participants used inanimate beings in their metaphors. It was observed that the level of idealism sub-dimension of the participants who made abstract entity definition about ethics was higher than the individuals who made concrete entity definition.
