Abstract (EN)
The main goal of this research is to search for the Science and Technology teachers, who work at primary schools, competency of using alternative assessment methods.In this study, quantitative and qualitative research methods have been used together. On the quantitative dimension of the study, questionnaire that has been prepared according to the aim of the research has been applied. On the qualitative dimension, in order to search deeply the teachers competency and opinions about alternative assessment and evaluation techniques, half-structured interview has been done. In order to make analysis validity and reliability of questionnaire, pilot-application of questionnaire has been done with 98 Science and Technology teachers who work in different cities that are out of working group. Quantitative data are collected with the questionnaire whose alfta reliability coefficient came out .98 as a result of pilot application. Half-structured interviews have been done with 4 Science and Technology teachers who were chosen among 32 questionnaire applied Science and Technology teachers to reach the aim of the research.As a result of qualitative and quantitattive data, it was seen that Science and Technology teachers who took part in the research saw themselves adequate on the subject of alternative assessment and evaluation methods. However, qualitative data which are gained as the result of the interviews showed that teachers have deficiency in using portfolio, concept map, rubric and structured grid methods which are among alternative assessment methods.Key Words : Assessment and evaluation, competency, alternative assessment methods
