Determination of ultraviolet and photoaging protective effects of ferulic acid containing niosomes on human fibroblast cells

Abstract (EN)

Ferulic acid (FA) is a secondary plant metabolite that is abundant in wheat bran, is readily available, inexpensive, and can be refined using chemical extraction. FA low level of toxicity; It has recently grown to be a very prominent raw material in the pharmaceutical sector due to its multiple physiological functions, including its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, and anticancer actions. The culinary, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries all use it extensively. In addition, research using Matrix Metallo Proteinase has demonstrated that it actively contributes to the photoaging mechanism (MMP). In this study, it is intended to boost the effectiveness of usage along with the ultraviolet (UV) and photoaging preventive impact by employing the proper niosome technology of ferulic acid. In order to do this, niosomes were designed utilizing the thin film hydration method (TFH), characterisation tests were carried out in human fibroblast Bj cells, and cytotoxicity, MMP-2 inhibition, and UV protection properties were shown. The results show that the size range of all ferulic acid-containing niosomes within the research's purview is between 100 and 200 nm, and the maximum encapsulation effectiveness is 42.73%. Through its transport in the appropriate niosomes, ferulic acid, which is abundant in wheat bran, has been demonstrated in these investigations to be an efficient and novel chemical with ultraviolet and photoaging protective characteristics. Within the parameters of the thesis, it is anticipated to contribute to the studies on the use of niosome technology, which has recently gained popularity, particularly in the cosmeceutical industry, to transform inexpensive raw materials into effective products.
