Abstract (EN)

Turning to the history of cities and regions in Islamic history research enables us to better understand the complex fabric of Islamic civilisation. Studying the history of a city or region reveals how political, economic, social and cultural dynamics interacted, how societies were shaped and what role Islam played in these processes. This study deals with the political and social history of Bahrain, which has a great geographical and strategic importance, from the conquest process until the end of the Umayyad State. The thesis covers the pre-Islamic state structure of Bahrain, the new political order that emerged with the spread of Islam to the region, and the administrative, social and economic policies in the region until the end of the Umayyad State. The introductory part of the study, which consists of four main chapters, draws a general framework about the geographical and historical location of Bahrain, its situation in the pre-Islamic and early Islamic periods, stating the purpose and importance of the subject. In the following chapters, the political, social, economic and cultural situation of Bahrain during the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s.) period, the Hulefah-yi Rashidîn period and the Umayyad period are examined in detail. In the last chapter, the physical, political, economic, cultural and social aspects of Bahrain are discussed. At the same time, the change of Bahrain in the historical process is presented with visual materials. Bahrain, which has recently become a state, has hosted many civilisations throughout history thanks to its strategic location and natural resources, and has become an VI important Islamic centre with the spread of Islam. Bahrain, which played an important role in political and religious developments especially during the Prophet's era and the first Islamic caliphs, was the scene of various revolts during the Umayyad period. Many Companions, especially Abu Huraira, Anas b. Malik and Ala b. Hadrami, served here. Keywords: Islamic History, Prophet Muhammad, Bahrain, Conquest of Bahrain, Khulefâ-yi Râshidîn, Umayyads.
