Abstract (EN)

Countries have begun to focus on trade in innovative and technology-intensive products with the growth of international trade. The protection of information has become more important. Intellectual property rights enable countries to compete fairly in the marketplace through patent and registration procedures for innovative products, and to avoid commercial damage by protecting their innovative products from imitation with the globalization of trade. Developed countries increase their exports by investing in R&D studies and producing technology-intensive products. Therefore, they have also implemented the necessary intellectual property rights agreements to protect their high value-added products in the market. In this way, they gain a competitive advantage in the international market with new products and increase the welfare of their countries. The impact of intellectual property rights on international trade is significant. Countries engaged in international trade are expected to cooperate to protect intellectual property rights and maintain fair competition. This thesis analyzes and identifies the extent of the impact of intellectual property rights on international trade. As a result of this study using panel data analysis, the impact of intellectual property rights on international trade was analyzed. As a result of the data obtained, it is determined that the gross domestic product, exchange rates, total domestic patents and the intellectual property rights index of the countries have a positive effects on the international trade of the countries. On the other hand, the ratio of foreign direct investment to gross domestic product has no statistically significant effect on the international trade.
