Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF FINITE STRAIN ELASTO-PLASTIC IMPACT PROBLEMS ERKLİ? Ahmet Ph.D. in Mechanical Eng. Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim H. GÜZELBEY Co-Supervisor: Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdullah AKPOLAT Dec 2003, 184 Pages In this study, it has been developed a general algorithm to handle the elasto-plastic contact-impact problem. This algorithm allows for further developments. For this purpose, a two-dimensional finite element program, which includes infinitesimal and finite strain plasticity, contact, impact and release algorithm, buckling criterion, is developed. The direct integration methods such as central difference, Newmark, Houbolt and Wilson-9 have been used for dynamic analysis. Some cases have been carried out for conforming and non-conforming contact-impact situations. The results have been compared with ANSYS/LS-DYNA finite element package. Key Words: Contact, Impact, Buckling, Direct Integration Methods, Plasticity, Finite Strain, Finite Element
