Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the subjective well-being and happiness levels of fitness center members according to their level of participation in recreational activities. The sample of the study is Turkey-wide and consists of 400 fitness center members who voluntarily participated in the study and all the data were collected online. Personal Information Form, Oxford Happiness Scale and Subjective Well-Being Scale were used as data collection tools in the research. The data obtained from the scales were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 24.0 package program. Distribution analysis, descriptive analysis, independent samples T-test and one-way ANOVA analysis of parametric hypothesis testing were applied in the study. In addition, Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the Subjective Well-Being Scale and the Oxford Happiness Scale. In our research, individuals who are members of fitness centers exercise more in their lives, make social connections, improve their physical health, and thus have higher levels of happiness. While women, young adults, individuals and individuals who exercise have higher levels of happiness, the frequency of exercise and social relationships also have a positive impact on happiness. Therefore, individuals who are members of recreation and fitness centers can improve both their physical health and psychological well-being by exercising more.
