Abstract (EN)

Today, cancer diseases are one of the biggest health problems arising from the uncontrolled division and proliferation of cells, and even leading to fatal consequences on human life. Among the treatment methods of cancer, classical treatment methods have various side effects. Photodynamic therapy method (PDT), which is an alternative to classical treatment methods, is an anti-cancer treatment method that has various advantages as well as has no harmful effects. Photodynamic therapy can be used alone or in combination with various treatment methods such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The most important advantage of photodynamic therapy is that the application can be repeated for treatment without damaging healthy tissues and cells. The most widely used and most effective photosensors in photodynamic therapy are porphyrin, chlorine and phthalocyanine compounds. Phthalocyanines, chemical and physical structures, thermal stability and light absorption at the appropriate wavelength, etc. Due to its properties, it has the ideal photosensor feature. In addition, the solubility and aggregation problems of phthalocyanines limit the applications of these photosensitizers. Therefore, synthesis of new phthalocyanine derivatives is needed to increase the effectiveness of phthalocyanine-based PDT applications. In this respect, in this thesis, new water-soluble phthalocyanine derivatives containing different imidazole groups were synthesized and the effects of both imidazole groups and phthalocyanines with magnesium central metal atom on photodynamic cancer therapy applications were investigated. The photodynamic therapy potential of novel water-soluble magnesium phthalocyanine derivatives on lung cancer was investigated.
