Abstract (EN)
Purpose of this thesis ; Historical process of the handicraft Haute Couture concept that continues its effects from the past to the present and its current situation, attitudes of the Haute Couture designers, answering what is haute couture?, the reasons of consumer interest in ready-to-wear, although it has a deep rooted history and endeavoring to restore Haute Couture have been mentioned in the research. Intended to illumination of the cunsomers who tend towards to ready-to wear under the name of preparing the ground for the future of the world of fashion by embracing its past. In the direction of approach and method ; the research has been benefited from the industry of France where Haute Couture was born and France's libararies. A literature study and evaluation on the findings of the study have been made. In this tracked way, birth of Haute Couture, historical development, manufacture stages, current effects, designers'biographies, where the designers live, clothes that they designed handled with their all details. When we look at the current situation of haute couture, ready-to-wear collections were seen as serious competitors to the collections of Haute Couture. Major part of Haute Couture's fashion designers have started to tend towards to ready-to-wear collections. The middle age's guild, Haute Couture is not in demand from cunsomers that much either. From both economic and time saving reasons, cunsomers show more demand to the ready-to-wear. But still, Haute Couture fashion houses haven't given up against the new era's ready-to-wear democracy and have continued to ingender its own collections. Haute Couture art that inspires designers with its rooted history, with a different perspective on clothing design and approach to fashion tendency, is aimed to be examined together with the historical process from the artistic and technical aspects to the aforementioned ready-to-wear sector.
