Algae were found to develop on the side-walls, bottom and in water of the fish ponds. Algal flora of the ponds was predominantly constituted by diatoms (Bacillariophyta). A total of 23 diatom taxa were determined. Msvimla, MitzscMs and CşmMifs were the genera represented by more species than other diatoms. Mavietila species appeared to be the most significant both in occurrence and in cell numbers in all ponds. Spring developments of the diatoms were by far greater than those recorded in summer.
