Abstract (EN)

Full-Duplex (FD) communications allows receiving and transmitting the signal at the same time interval using the same frequency band, hence it theoretically doubles the capacity, improves the spectral efficiency and reduces end-to-end delay with respect to the conventional half-duplex (HD) communications. Although FD transmission causes strong loop-interference (LI) at the receive antenna, the recent developments on antenna technology and signal processing techniques make it feasible by applying LI cancellation techniques. According to the experimental and theoretical studies in the literature, FD transmission can outperform its counterpart HD transmission, even though the LI cannot be removed completely. Hence, FD communications has recently gained great attention as a potential candidate technology for the next generation wireless communication systems. In this thesis, a variety of wireless communication systems using FD transmission are designed and analyzed. The outage probability or bit error rate (BER) expressions of the proposed systems are analytically derived. The accuracy of the theoretical analyses for each system is verified by several Monte Carlo type computer simulation results.
