Abstract (EN)
The role of football academies in the future of football, or in more commonly used words, the necessity of prioritizing youth development in football, seems to be a point of consensus among various stakeholders such as board members of clubs, football professionals, journalists, fans, coaches, and players. While football academies also contribute socially by engaging young people in sports and supporting their physical and mental development, their primary role in professional football is to serve as a source of players. While some clubs emphasize investing more in academies and establishing productive mechanism as part of their vision, there are also the ones that rely on external sources to sustain their activities. Professional football clubs must achieve sporting success while also maintaining financial sustainability. A club that is financially unstable despite the sporting achievements is at risk of falling behind in competitive sports over time. That being said, this thesis aims to demonstrate, through the potential productivity arising from a well-planned investment in football academies, the impact on the achievement of sustainable sporting and financial structures for professional clubs. It seeks to show with data how player development is crucial for the continuity of the football industry. To achieve this, the study first defines criteria for measuring the productivity of football academies; using these criteria, along with supporting factors, it creates models in both sporting and financial dimensions. By doing so, the study reaches conclusions about the impact of football academies on the sporting and financial sustainability of clubs.
