Abstract (EN)

The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between change of direction speed and agility performance on football players. Eighteen voluntary sub elite soccer players (age 18±1.28 years) attended to the current study. Straight sprint speed tests, lower extremity tests, running technique tests and anthropometric measurement were used during the study. The statistical analyses of the current study shows that there is a significant, negative relationship (r=0.579) between age and pro agility (PAT) test which includes planned change of direction. These results show as the amateur football players? ages increase the agility performances decrease, similarly as dominant leg %fat (r=0.511) and non-dominant leg %fat increase the agility performance of players? decrease. In contrast to these results there was no significant relationship between anthropometric quality and agility test that includes unplanned change of direction. Considering football players change of direction is dependent on opponent's movements, amateur football players' agility performance is independent from the anthropometric qualities. The correlation and regression analyses of the current study shows that to increase agility performance for amateur football players it is useful to use unplanned change of direction speed courses during the trainings.
