Abstract (EN)
Energy requirement increases rapidly so in order to reply this demand, coal is produced by two methods nonely underground and open pit coal mining. In underground mining, the working conditions become very hard by the increasing depth of the coal. An alternative to the underground mining methods is open pit mining. The biggest alternative of the open pit mining over underground mining is to produce coal big quantity. As a result of this advantage, there is a tendency towards to open pit mining throughout the world mining industry. The biggest problem of open pit mining technology is the overburden removal. It is important to produce cheaper overburden removal to result cheaper coal production. In this study, the open pit mining costs where investigated for Tunçbilek belonging to T.K.I (Turkish Coal Enterprices)
