Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the thermoluminescence (TL) properties of Zinc Borate (ZnB2O4) and ZnB2O4:xGd (x=0.25%-0.5%-1%-2%-3%-4%-5%-7%-10%) phosphors, synthesized by combustion method were investigated and experimental studies were carried out to determine whether these phosphors can be used as a dosimeter in one of the fields such as space, clinical, personal or environmental dosimetry. XRD measurements were made to determine whether crystallization of the synthesized phosphors occurred. The luminescence properties of the synthesized phosphors were investigated by TL method. ZnB2O4 and Gd doped phosphors were exposed to 10 Gy beta test dose and the glow curves in different filters were examined. In the light of the results obtained, it has been seen that the most suitable filter for TL studies of this material is broadband. It was found that the optimum mass concentration for Gd doped ZnB2O4 phosphors was 0.25% Gd. Trap parameters of ZnB2O4:0.0025Gd phosphors were calculated using different heating rates and initial increase methods.
