Abstract (EN)

In this research observing the effects of general characteristics and nutritional status of patients applicated to Gazi University Hospital Urology Clinic Kidneystone Breaking Center to kidneystone formation and recurrence is aimed.Eightysix patients who had kidneystone were participate to investigation. In research datas were collected with questionare method. Datas were evaluated with recording to SPSS program.Of the participants percent 70.9 are male and 29.1% are female. Of the patients 50% had kidneystone in their family history. Stone recurrence is found higher (67.4%) in participants who has kidneystone history in their family. Of the patients 46.5% are overweight and 18.6% are obese. In overweight and obese group stone recurrence raito is found higher (65% -62.5%). Patients are generally carrying on a inactive lifestyle. Of the patients 46.5% are consuming insufficient water( 1500 ml and <). When their food consumption frequency were analyzed, of the patients 5.8% were milk, 38.4% were yoghurt, 64% were cheese, 10.5% were vegetable consuming everyday. Subjects who consumes fruit and vegetable everyday recurrence ratio were lower than consuming them 3-5 times in a week. Subject?s consuming nuts everyday recurrence ratio is found the highest (100%). Recurrence raito is found the lowest (41.2%) for patients consuming 1-3 times in a week. Of the patients 51.2% consumes tea everyday and 36% every meal. People drinking tea every meal have high stone recurrence ratio (61.3%).It was determined that, general characteristics of patients and their nutritional habits are effective for kidneystone formation. Making concious about this topic for protecting patients from kidneystone formation and its recurrence, starting to appropriate diet and medical therapy will be an important and effective way.Key words: kidneystone, calcium oxalat, nutritional habits.
