Abstract (EN)

Gaziantep has always been in an important strategic position throughout history. Gaziantep, which has been the center of many important civilizations since the centuries before BC, is located at an important junction of the Fırat River and the Fertile Crescent. The city, which was the center of important states in the years before BC, came under the domination of important states such as Rome, Byzantium, Abbasids and Umayyads in the following years. With the settlement of Turks to the region since the 11th century, a culture based on the Turkish language began to form here and the foundations of the Gaziantep dialect began to be laid. Gaziantep center and all nine districts were included in this study. In the study, first of all, a comprehensive and detailed field research and texts from the source people were compiled from the places identified. Then, the texts were examined in terms of general phonetic and morphological features with diachronic and simultaneous methods. As a result of the examination, three dialect regions and lower dialect regions of these dialect regions were determined in Gaziantep. Gaziantep dialect is among the Western Group dialects in terms of general phonetic and morphological features; on the other hand, it has been understood that it has common features with the Eastern and Northeastern group dialects. At the same time, it has been determined that the dialect of the region has similar uses and vocabulary with Azerbaijani Turkish. At the end of the study, the grammatical index of the examined texts is included.
