Abstract (EN)

Object: The aim of this study was to determine the family planning attitudes of pregnant and puerperians and the factors affecting them. Material and Method: The study was conducted as descriptive and cross-sectional. The sample of the study consisted of 403 women who applied to the pregnant polyclinic of the hospitals in Manisa province and gave birth. The data were collected by the researcher using a questionnaire containing questions that could determine the socio-demographic, obstetric and family planning characteristics of women and the Family Planning Attitude Scale (APLT). Frequency analysis, Kruskal-Wallis in Independent Groups, Mann-Whitney U Test and Spearman Correlation for correlation were used to evaluate the data. Results: Most of the pregnant women and puerperians included in the study were in the 21-40 age range, most of them were high school graduates (pregnant women: 48.8%, puerperal: 53.6%) and did not work (pregnant women: 68.7%, puerperal:%) 61,6). The mean duration of marriage of pregnant women and puerperants was 7.09 ± 4.66 (min: 1.0- max: 20.0) in pregnant women and 8.23 ± 5.63 (min: 1.0- max: 25.0) in pregnant women. It was determined that 100% of pregnant women and puerperians who participated in the study had knowledge about family planning. The mean total score of the EPDS was 95.76 ± 9.31 (min: 71- max: 113.0) in pregnant women and 95.75 ± 9.92 (min: 71.0 - max: 113) in the puerperant. It was found that the mean APLS score of the pregnant women and the puerperants who had high school and higher education, good and moderate socioeconomic level, and social security was found to be high and statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion: There was no difference between the family planning attitudes of pregnant women and puerperants according to their mean scores. According to the results of the study, the factors affecting the family planning attitudes of pregnant women and puerperants who participated in the study were; educational status, employment status, social security, socio-economic level, duration of marriage, education status of the spouse.
