Abstract (EN)
The present study firstly aims to evaluate however pregnant women are informed about pregnancy and medical observation, secondly to determine the degree of expectation of being informed by the healthcare professionals and tendency of information that the healthcare professionals give, and also to give suggestions by evaluating this condition in the light of medical ethics and current medicine. One hundred two voluntary pregnant women included in this study who are first pregnancy and at the 36 and over gestational age, and are surveyed in different obstetrical centers in Mersin. A questionnaire with 63 questions is applied to them and also, the researcher had an interview with them face to face. Results that are nearly similar with literature demonstrate that healthcare professionals behave fastidiously on pregnant women about giving information that assists in their working without any problem, however they do not behave on pregnant women in the same way to inform them about pregnancy. In this case, some aspects especially, in drug administration, vaccination, current observation and self-care of pregnant are emphasized. It is clear that giving information providing practice on time about prenatal tests is indicated, but the information about the reason and the results of the test is not given in the same rate. Therefore, it is concluded that pregnant women are not informed by the healthcare professionals in the light of current medical ethics paradigm.
