Abstract (EN)

This thesis aims to examine the effects of recreational Pilates exercises performed during pregnancy on women's body image and mood state. Pregnancy is a unique period characterized by significant physical and psychological changes in women. During this process, physical activity—particularly Pilates exercises—is known to have positive effects on both physical and psychological well-being. Pilates contributes to the reduction of postural disorders, muscle tension, and lower back pain commonly experienced during pregnancy through components such as controlled breathing, body awareness, balance, and flexibility. In addition, Pilates has been reported to provide psychological benefits, including reduced anxiety levels, improved mood, and enhanced body image. Within the scope of this study, the body image perceptions and mood states of pregnant women who participate in Pilates exercises and those who do not will be compared to examine the effects of Pilates on these variables. The findings are expected to contribute scientifically to exercise-based approaches aimed at supporting physical and psychological well-being during pregnancy.
