Abstract (EN)

The objectives of this study are to introduce pervious concretes, which are not well known in Turkey, and investigate production potential of pervious concretes which can provide strength value suitable for Technical Specification for Concrete Road Pavements of General Directorate of Highways in laboratory conditions. The effects of aggregate size and different aggregate to binder ratios on the mechanical and permeability properties of pervious concretes have been investigated using washed limestone based crushed aggregates in different sizes. Moreover, conventional concrete, which has proper aggregate gradation and the same mixture ratio as the pervious concretes, has also been produced. Compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, abrasion resistance, density, porosity and permeability tests were carried out for each pervious concrete mixture. Within the scope of this thesis it has been found that density values have been considerably affected by density measurement methods. In addition, it has been observed that generally mechanical strength of pervious concretes have been decreased with the increase of aggregate size and aggregate to binder ratio. It has been determined that if selecting proper aggregate size, mixture ratio and consistency, pervious concrete mixtures which are suitable for characteristic strength values of Technical Specification for Concrete Road Pavements of General Directorate of Highways can be produced.
