Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Ph.D. THESIS THE INVESTIGATION OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES OF TRANSITION METAL COMPLEXES Fahrettin YAKUPHANO?LU Fırat University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Physics 2002, Page: 119 The electrical conductivity, crystal structure, microstructure, magnetic, and optical properties of the complexes Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) including different ligands were investigated. The crystal structures, surface morphology, and optical properties of the samples were investigated by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV+VIS spectrometer, respectively. The magnetic properties of samples were also investigated by electron spin resonance (ESR) and Gouy balance method (GBM). The crystal structure of samples and grain size were determined by virtue of XRD. The conduction mechanisms occurring in samples were determined. The forbidden band gaps and Urbach energies were calculated by means of optical absorption spectra. As a result, the calculated electronic and optic parameters indicate that the samples have semiconducting property. Keywords: Transition metals, Complex, Ligand, Semiconductor, Activation energy, Urbach energy.
