An investigation of the effect of traditional children's games on the values education of primary school 4th grade students

This study, which was conducted to examine the effects of traditional children's games on the values education of 4th grade primary school students, utilized a mixed method descriptive design. The qualitative part of the study utilized a case study design, while the quantitative part utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. The study group consisted of students from two different fourth-grade classes at a primary school affiliated with the Yozgat Provincial Directorate of National Education, selected through convenience sampling. Within the scope of this study, the "Survey to Determine Student Opinions on Values Education in School Environment" and "Semi-Structured Interviews" were used to obtain the data. Within the scope of the study, the "Survey to Determine Student Opinions on Values Education in School Environment" was administered to both the experimental and control groups before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the application. In addition, a retention test was administered to both the experimental and control groups two weeks after the post-test. Students in the experimental group played traditional children's games for eight weeks, and interviews were conducted with 10 students selected from this group about traditional children's games. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS, while qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The study revealed a significant difference between the values education post-test scores of the experimental and control groups, favoring the experimental group.
