Abstract (EN)

The traditional linear economy model has provided growth and prosperity in many parts of the world, but it has also brought with it sustainability problems. With developing technologies and globalization, the take-make-dispose approach in the linear economy model has been replaced by the circular economy model, taking into account the welfare of future generations. The circular economy is a regenerative system in which products, resources and materials are kept in the economy as long as possible and the amount of waste is low. In order for the circular economy to be designed effectively, first of all, its relationship with sustainable development must be established. In this study, the relationship of circular economy with sustainable development, its characteristics, benefits, applicability are discussed, circular economy practices in the world and in the European Union are examined and the situation in Turkey is investigated.
