Investigation of attitudes, reasons of reason and satisfaction levels of individuals applicing to traditional and complementary medicine applications

Abstract (EN)
Purpose; The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes, reasons of application and satisfaction levels of individuals who applied to traditional and complementary medicine application center. Method; This descriptive study; Elazığ Training and Research Hospital Akşemseddin Traditional and Complementary Medical Center between November 2017-March 2018 with a total of 261 volunteers who applied. In this study, a questionnaire consisting of "Socio-Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire", "Traditional and Complementary Medicine Applications Usage Form" and "Attitude and Satisfaction Assessment Form" sections were applied. The data obtained from the questionnaire were coded to SPSS 15.0 package program. In addition to descriptive statistical methods, chi-square analysis was used for categorical variables and Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test was used in dependent groups. Results: The mean age of the participants was 49.07 ± 14.60 and 57.5% of the participants were women, 28.0% were university graduates and above, and 43.7% had good income. 85.4% of the individuals stated that traditional and complementary medicine would benefit, and 72.8% stated that these practices were good. Individuals' attitudes towards traditional and complementary medicine (GETAT) practices were found to be positive. The reasons for applying the traditional and complementary medicine applications of the participants are; general health and well-being (19.1%), secondly relieving pain (18.9%). It was determined that 58.2% of the individuals thought to continue the traditional and complementary medicine applications and 60.9% recommended it to their close friends and friends. Satisfaction levels of the individuals were found to be positive. When the satisfaction levels of the applicants with pain were examined, it was found that the pain scores decreased. Visuel Analog Scale (VAS) values of individuals before GETAT application were 7.48 ± 1.35, but decreased to 4.66 ± 2.15 after GETAT applications. Conclusion: It has been concluded that traditional and complementary medicine practices positively affect individuals' attitudes and satisfaction levels. The reasons for application were mostly to improve general well-being and pain.
