Abstract (EN)

In our research, the reflection of the concepts of developing technology and ecology to the architecture is observed and the "Intelligent Building" concept, which is the product of this process, is analyzed according to these two directions. In our study, technology-architecture relationship is taken up as the effects of the developments in the construction material technologies and the developments in the communication technologies upon architecture. Ecology-architecture relationship is observed in the frame of ecological design criteria depending on the ecological architecture. The reflection of technological developments and ecology concepts to the architecture forms the essential theme of the thesis: Intelligent building concept. When the intelligence notion, which carries the meaning peculiar to the human being, is adapted to the construction; the buildings that can completely control its' own surroundings appear. Intelligent buildings, which are rationally designed and constructed, perceive its surroundings and can react rightfully to the perceptions. The developments in material and communication technologies, the suitability to the ecological design criteria are the main components that rend these buildings intelligent. In the final chapter of our analyses, intelligent buildings are observed with domestic and foreign examples. Thus, the proximity of so-called intelligent buildings, which are admitted intelligent, to the intelligent building concept is examined. Key Words: communication, technology, ecological design, intelligent building
