Comparison of physical and motor characteristics of young wrestlers according to the age variable

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research; was to determine the physical and motoric characteristics of young male wrestlers and compare them according to the age variable. In this study, a descriptive model was used. A total of 64 young male wrestlers with a mean age of 14.98 years and without any sports injuries or health problems were included in the study. Wrestlers' body composition characteristics such as height, body weight, body mass index, body fat ratio, body fat mass, and lean body mass were determined. In addition, their upper and lower extremity strength, speed, anaerobic power, flexibility, and aerobic endurance were measured. The data were analyzed with the SPSS package program. Arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and ANOVA were used for data analysis. According to the results of the research, there is a statistically significant difference between age groups in terms of vertical jump, standing long jump, hand-grip strength, medicine ball throwing, 30-second sit-ups, 30 m speed, and aerobic endurance. Moreover, there is no significant difference between age groups in terms of flexibility and anaerobic power. Key Words: Wrestling, Endurance, Strength, Speed, Flexibility, Body Composition
