Abstract (EN)

Title: The Effect of the "Aşk Olsun!" Mobile Game on Improving Young Adults' Attitudes and Perceptions Toward Dating Violence Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the mobile game "Aşk Olsun!", which was designed based on the Health Belief Model, on improving young adults' attitudes and perceptions regarding dating violence Methods: This research was conducted using a single-blind, randomized pretest-posttest design with a 6-week follow-up period (Clinical Trials: NCT06678321). The study was carried out between January 2024 and May 2025 with 134 young adults (67 in the intervention group and 67 in the control group) who had experienced dating violence and were studying at a university. The intervention group played the "Aşk Olsun!" mobile game and received weekly informative messages throughout the 6-week follow-up. Data were collected using a sociodemographic form identifying dating violence and its types, the Dating Violence Attitude Scale and the Dating Violence Perception Scale. Results: The mobile game intervention had a small effect on the general violence subscale of the attitude scale (Cohen d = 0.369) and a moderate effect on the physical, emotional and economic violence subscales (Cohen d = 0.613; 0.751; 0.712, respectively). For the perception scale, the intervention had a small effect on the sexual violence subscale (Cohen d = 0.252) and a moderate effect on the physical and psychological violence subscales (Cohen d = 0.477; 0.532, respectively). Conclusion: The mobile game Aşk Olsun! developed in line with the HBM model, was found to reduce general, physical, emotional and economic attitudes toward dating violence, as well as physical and psychological perceptions of dating violence. It also appeared to reduce tolerance toward violent behaviors. As a good practice for universities, the use of mobile games may increase awareness and support attitude change among young adults. It is recommended that this game be promoted within universities, supported by policy-makers, and integrated into preventive programs to ensure sustainability and evidence-based practice. Key words: Dating violence, young adults, mobil game, health belief model
