Abstract (EN)

The increase in the world population has been paralleled by a steady rise in the number of vehicles within transportation networks. These escalating vehicle numbers contribute to traffic issues that adversely impact various aspects of human life. Examples of these problems include extended wait times in traffic, traffic accidents, time wastage, heightened fuel consumption, and amplified environmental repercussions. To alleviate these challenges, there is a pressing need to enact new traffic regulations within transportation networks. Advancements in computer technologies have elevated traffic simulation software to a pivotal role in assessing the efficiency of urban road transportation. In this study, research and investigations have been conducted using simulation software commercially known as "PTV Vissim" on two different scenarios created based on parameters such as geometric conditions, traffic signal durations, and traffic loads for three consecutive controlled intersections located within the city center limits of Antalya province, which are part of the same transportation network and date back to the years 2015 and 2022. Looking at the analysis results obtained with the simulation software for two different scenarios, it was determined that the intersection geometric arrangement and the accordingly updated signal optimization had a positive effect on the transportation network and intersection-based traffic parameters.
